This interdisciplinary course explores the complex role of alcohol in society with a focus on its effects on physical and mental health, social dynamics, and gender-specific risks—especially those affecting women. Students will examine historical and cultural perspectives on alcohol use, gain insight into biological and psychological impacts, and critically analyze public health messages and media portrayals. Special attention will be given to the unique vulnerabilities and consequences faced by adolescents and women in relation to alcohol consumption.
